MONUMENT TO THE PARTISANS
HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION
In the small gardens at the corner between Piazzale della Repubblica and Via Ernesto Monaci there is a monument to the Partisans who fell in the Second World War: it is a work consisting of a small access stairway, which leads to a platform on which two pillars stand. in stone in support of a plaque dated 1956. The commemorative slab is a tribute to the victims of the Second World War, especially to the partisans, as can be clearly seen in the words imprinted in the center of the plaque “… For an unfortunate war fell or noble hearts italics, combatant partisans who fell in a foreign land, combatant partisans who fell on national soil, civilians murdered by the Nazi-fascists, civilians who fell under the air raids, so that your martyrdom may be a warning to all the peoples of the world, so that your faith may be the lighthouse that illuminates everyone, we pass on to posterity ”. At the bottom is a recently made plaque, commissioned by the Municipal Administration of Soriano on the occasion of the anniversary of the Liberation (April 25) in 1995, on which we read: “Municipality of Soriano nel Cimino April 25, 1945 – April 25, 1995 – … Wherever an Italian died, to redeem freedom and dignity, go there, young people, with thoughts, because our Constitution was born there – Pietro Calamandrei, Soriano nel Cimino there 25.4.1995 ”.
