CEMETERY OF SANTA MARIA IN POGGIO
HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION
The Soriano cemetery, the oldest part of which was planted in 1873, stands next to the former convent of Santa Maria del Poggio. The interior preserves precious burials belonging to illustrious families of Soriano, dating back to the early twentieth century. A column placed on a pedestal and surmounted by an urn represents the tomb of canon Tommaso Micci.
A female figure, holding a wreath with her left hand and touching a crucifix with her right, composes the funeral monument of the Peretti family. Among the other most significant tombs and monuments of the place, we highlight: the Crespi, Catalani, Ziveri, Giannotti, Diana tombs, an ossuary and a Roman altar with a column.
