HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION
Inside the garden located in Piazzale della Repubblica, stands the monument to the Fallen of the First World War (1915-1918), a tribute by the Municipal Administration of Soriano to the victims of the conflict, it was built in 1925. Beyond an iron fence you reach the sculptural work, consisting of a peperino pyramid surmounted by the bronze statue of the Unknown Soldier. At the base of the stone structure there are four heads also in bronze, two on the left side, two on the right, depicting the soldier’s mother, father, bride and son. The inscription in Latin numbers “MCMXV-MCMXVIII”, placed on the front of the monument, recalls the years of the terrible conflict: 1915-1918. Higher up we read: “Soriano to his sons who fell in the Great War”. A third commemorative plaque completes the work.
