DESCRIPTION

The Municipal Library is located in Via Roma. Established in 1977 with the aim of collecting the rich book heritage, contributing to the dissemination of reading and promoting interesting cultural activities, it houses an editorial fund of over 60,000 volumes, divided into books, audio books, DVDs and CD-ROMs. Inside there is also the Historical Archive, which allows teachers and scholars to carry out important educational initiatives, based on research and comparison between archival and book sources.
Among the special sections, the Local Documentation Section is the result of a systematic work, started about 30 years ago, of collecting published and unedited documents of local interest, which mainly concern the territory of Soriano in its historical evolution, but also the Province of Viterbo and the Lazio Region. Since 1990, the library has been housed in the premises of Palazzo Catalani, an ancient building renovated in the eighties and characterized by a nineteenth-century facade, equipped with a door enclosed between two columns surmounted by a balcony. The interior is divided into different sections: on the ground floor there is ample space for the rooms dedicated to children, there is also a narrative room, a reading room and a garden for outdoor reading activities. The second floor has an additional reading room, multicultural and literature sections. The ceilings decorated with paintings are interesting.
